The visitors, students, media persons all were very lucky to be the part of Direction Workshop conducted by the renowned Director Pankaj Parashar on the second day of 2nd Global Festival of Documentary Films 2009 at Noida Film City. Talking about his success and failure of films and projecting his films on screen the veteran Director discuss the ups and downs of the director in the Industry. Pankaj Parashar who has directed some of the finest films like Jalwa, Chalbazz, Himalayaputra, Meri Biwi Ka Jawab Nahin, Banaras and popular TV serial Karamchand along with 400 advertisement films for best of the companies. “You have to get involved with the project, treat it as your child and then only you can give best to the film” said Pankaj Parashar “Workshops like this during the film festivals create the awareness among the masses about the hard work and fire one has to go through while making the films” said Sandeep Marwah, the president of festival. The session finished with the question answer session and the interview by Radio Noida 107.4FM.

Kurbaan : Review

When it come entertainers Dharma productions never disappointed us. Many movies deals with terrorism came in Bollywood in past few years. But I will say majority are half baked or love stories. What make kurbaan different from rest of the movies of similar genre is, probably this is the first Bollywood (or Indian) movie which dealt with Global terrorism and other thing is rather than others of similar genre, the story progress with the point of view of terrorists (not portraying them as either baddies or goodies, just express there emotions and psyche) as well as moderate peoples and also movie portrays pain of helpless spectator who lost his loved one in one of the attack. The movie concentrates on its core theme rather than distracting sub plots and songs.

Plot

Avantika, a lecture at a university in Delhi fall in love with Ehsaan a professor from similar university and soon they get married and relocate to New York. But soon they find out that things are not cool as it seems and no one can be trusted. I don’t want to tell anything further and spoil the fun of watching a thriller

My take

A good story with style and substance is rare thing in Bollywood. Kurbaan is one of those kinds. It has a tight script and fast paced screenplay. The performances of lead actors are commendable .I have never seen Kiron Kher in such a powerful role. Never thought Vivek Oberoi knows anything other than over acting But he is too good in this movie. Cinematography and Background score is excellent. I’m sure this movie will take Indian movie to next level. Guess we have got another Abbas-Mustaan. Kudos to Rensil D’Silva and his team. Really smart one. Yeah Some Love Stories have Blood on them.

Scene to watch out: A bullet wound surgery,climax

Pros: Screen play, climax, back ground score, art direction and cinematography, saif-Kareena chemistry, fewer songs (but good ones), no item numbers.

Cons: First half an hour (a bit drag), Too hot for kids (don’t take kids with you for this movie), not for masses.

Both these Sena’s have lots of time. And hate. They also possess lots of petrol, stones, hockey sticks etc. They take me back in time to the Bollywood of the glorious 80’s. But let me not digress.

This MM is frailer than your old grandmother, grandmother, orphan, handicapped who is abandoned, on the road, doesn’t have work or relatives or social support – who begs on the streets, at numerous crossings, tapping on your air-conditioned, frost-bitten rolled-up windows of your XYZ sedan.

The MM can die of hurt caused by talk of all kinds – ‘I like India’ and bingo they lose a tooth…er you lose it.

If you say ‘I love India’ then entire gene structures of the MM mutate. They vibrate at higher speeds than the 2 particles traveling in the ever – crashing Large Hadron Collider.

‘I like Mughlai’ say you? That could possibly be the last words out of your treacherous mouth.

‘I like a Nude’ and and…forget about it.

MM in fact has come as a savior to the entire women species of India. No longer are women considered the weaker of the species. MM has been categorized as the weakest of the lot. And it is reliably learnt that the SS and the MNS are proud wearers of his badge of honour. They in fact want this exalted status to be made permanent so that benefits can accrue to their scared lot.

Meanwhile Indian women groups are busy putting aside their differences and sending a delegation to Bombay to congratulate both the SS and the MNS for giving the final shove in the centuries old struggle.

They are however only worried about 1 thing – giving up the reserved seats on BEST buses to the Marathi Manoos.

MM can’t compete with the illiterate Bhaiyya coming from UP and Bihar. MM cannot get jobs also when competing with some of the literates coming out of the said backward provinces.

In additional news, which is already being confirmed as unadulterated speculation or rumor, the Big Boss evictee motor-mouth KRK has launched his next film called ‘Marathi Manhoos’ to whip up frenzy, polarize his audience and earn money right on the table. He says he has learnt the art of polarizing from the SS and MNS.

Kajol About My Name Is Khan

Kajol who is lucky partner of Shahrukh Khan has paired once again opposite him for the movie My Name Is Khan. My Name Is Khan is ready to hit the screens by February 2010. Karan Johar is confident about this movie, he is thinking that, this movie will break all the records in Bollywood.

Kajol has spoken recently about this movie. She said that, like the previous movies Like DDLJ, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai which featured SRK and Kajol, this movie also becomes a Block Buster hit. She refused to speak much about her character, but has shown lot of excitement while speaking about this movie.

असिन ने आशुतोष की फिल्म से इनकार किया

बॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री असिन कुछ दिन पहले आशुतोष गोवारीकर की चिटगांव विद्रोह पर केन्द्रीय फिल्म “खेले हम जी जान से” करने से इनकार कर दिया था। अब चर्चा है कि इस भूमिका के लिए दीपिका पादुकोण को फाइनल कर लिया गया है। फिल्म से जुडे एक सूत्र के अनुसार असिन ने जब डेट्स की समस्या के चलते फिल्म करने से इनकार कर दिया तो आशुतोष ने जेनेलिया डिसूजा, सोनम कपूर सहित दीपिका के बारे में विचार किया।
अंतत दीपिका उन्हें भूमिका के लिहाज से फिट लगी। इसके बाद जब दीपिका से संपर्क किया गया तो उन्होंने हां करने में देर नहीं लगाई, क्योकि वह भी आशुतोष के साथ काम करने को लालायित थी। असिन ने फिल्म छोडने की असल वजह पूछने पर उस सूत्र ने बताया कि असिन को फिल्म में अपनी भूमिका प्रभावी नहीं लग रही थी। हमें लगता है कि हालिया फिल्म “लंदन ड्रीम्स” को मिली मिश्रित प्रतिक्रिया के बाद असिन फिल्मों को लेकन काफी चूजी हो गई है। वही वजह है कि आमिर खान के साथ हिंदी इंडस्ट्री में “गजनी” से शुरूआत करने वाली असिन अपनी मार्केट को लेकर खासी सतर्कता से काम ले रही है। इस बारे में आशुतोष कहते है, यह सच है कि हमने दीपिका को साइन कर लिया है।

Opening November 6: Jail and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani

Two new Hindi movies open in the Chicago area on Friday, November 6: one serious and one silly.

The serious movie is Jail, starring Neil Nitin Mukesh in a drama about the cruel treatment of inmates in Indian prisons. Jail is only opening at the AMC South Barrington 30 in South Barrington. It has a runtime of 2 hrs. 35 min.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is the silly movie, about a boy named Prem (Ranbir Kapoor) whose efforts to please everyone go awry. It costars Katrina Kaif and has a runtime of 2 hrs. 35 min.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani will play at the South Barrington 30, AMC Loews Pipers Alley 4 in Chicago, AMC Cantera 30 in Warrenville and Big Cinemas Golf Glen 5 in Niles.

Carrying over for a second week is London Dreams, which earned $207,964 in its first week in U.S. theaters. London Dreams continues to show at the Cantera 30, South Barrington 30 and Golf Glen 5.

Last week’s other new release, Aladin, gets a second week at the South Barrington 30.

Wake Up Sid ends its five-week run in U.S. theaters this week with $717,977 in total earnings, while Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna earned $196,203 in three weeks.

Other Indian movies playing in the Chicago area this weekend include Telugu films Ek Niranjan and Village Lo Vinayakudu and the Kannada movie Raaj — The Showman at the Big Cinemas Golf Glen 5 in Niles.

In România libera, Cristian Ghinea scrie serios despre  Candidatura domnului Severin, un scenariu pe care noi l-am catalogat ca fiind ridicol si previzibil ca un film indian.Uitati câteva fragmente:

Nu spun acum ca Severin nu are dreptul la aceste opinii. Dimpotriva, este liber sa gandeasca si sa scrie ce doreste, dar, daca ar fi consecvent cu sine insusi, atunci logica ar fi urmatoarea: Basescu e tiran, deci Romania e o tiranie, atunci eu, Severin, ar trebui sa fiu disident si sa cer ajutorul Europei, nu sa ma autopropun pentru functii de reprezentare (cum as putea reprezenta Europa care vrea sa le ofere modele tarilor autoritariste cand eu insumi provin dintr-o dictatura acceptata in Europa?). Asa e viata: nu poti sa fii si carierist, si disident, trebuie la un moment dat sa alegi.

Oricum ar fi, incapacitatea lui Severin de a obtine sprijin macar din partea propriului partid, in afara delegatiei PSD la Bruxelles pe care o conduce, spune multe despre stilul sau de creare a aliantelor.
